If you’ve been thinking about purchasing state lifetime hunting and fishing licenses, you have only a couple of weeks before the price goes up.

Wildlife and Parks commissioners voted last week in Topeka to boost the cost of resident-only lifetime hunting and fishing licenses from $300 to $440.

At the same time, the fee for a lifetime combination license was hiked from $600 to $880.

The new prices will go into effect after Feb. 18.

The state agency governors also approved an increase in the nonresident archery and firearms whitetail either sex and muzzleloader any deer permits.

Currently, nonresidents pay $221 for one of these permits, a fee which includes a $20 nonrefundable application fee and a $1 issuance fee.

The new fee for these nonresident deer permits has been hiked to $321.

Other fee proposals approved include a $5 application fee for elk permits and adding a $5 preference point service charge to resident limited-draw permits, such as the any deer firearms permit and the Unit 4 spring turkey permits.
