Winter makes a comeback

Say goodbye to the sunny warm weather. Cooler temperatures and cloudy skies will return today and linger through the rest of the week, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“Our temperatures are much cooler than they were at the beginning of the week,” Schack said, referring to the highs that reached into the upper 50s on Monday and Tuesday.

Skies were cloudy at 12:45 p.m. and the temperature was 39. But a northwesterly 13 to 25-mph wind was making the wind chill 25.

The high will climb to 42 by late this afternoon, Schack said.

“We also are bringing back plenty of cloud cover,” she said. “That will lead to cooler temperatures.”

Tonight’s skies will remain cloudy, with the temperature dropping to 21 for the overnight low, she said.

“It’s even cooler tomorrow. We’re only heading up into the mid 30s,” she said.

Thursday’s skies will continue to be cloudy, with the high reaching 35. Overnight the temperature will drop to 26 by early Friday morning.

Friday’s high will be 35, with cloudy skies and a chance for a wintry mix of precipitation, Schack said.

“We see the chance for some light freezing drizzle, maybe some freezing rain, on Friday,” she said. She said there might be some light freezing rain or drizzle on Friday night.

There’s also a possibility of another winter storm Sunday night and Monday morning, she said.
