Haskell Indian Nations University’s women’s basketball team was close to stunning Central Christian College, but fell short in the closing minutes, 59-55, Friday at HINU.

“We had a pretty good outing, but we probably didn’t shoot as well as we needed,” Haskell coach Phil Homeratha said.

Samantha Pete led Haskell with 15 points. Maria Stevens added 13 and Melinda Adams 11.

Haskell will face last year’s Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference runner-up, Newman University, at 3 p.m. today
