Randtke huge as Eagles hammer Joplin, 66-50

? A monster night from forward Mark Randtke helped Veritas Christian advance to today’s semifinals in the Silver division at the Northeast Oklahoma A&M Invitational.

Veritas used the strength of a 26-point fourth quarter to defeat Joplin (Mo.) Christian, 66-50, Thursday night.

In that fourth quarter, Randtke scored 13 of his game-high 31 points, dominating the inexperienced Joplin post players.

“He really stood up and was a real strong presence inside,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “The other team was real young inside, and we were able to take advantage.

“They had some very good guards. Their penetrators and three-point shooters were their strengths, and we were able to slow them down defensively.”

Randtke also had 16 rebounds.

Noah Barclay complemented Randtke’s inside performance with 11 points and four steals.

The Eagles’ semifinal matchup today will be against Springfield (Mo.) Christian.
