Glass honored again

Lawrence’s Bob Glass has been named PBA Senior Player of the Year for a record-tying third time.

Glass, who also earned the honor in 2000 and 2001, becomes only the second man to collect the prestigious award three times. Gary Dickinson was PBA Senior Player of the Year in 1993, 1994 and 1997.

Glass, 57, led the Tour with two victories and $28,600 in earnings. The right-hander captured the 2004 season-opening PBA Senior Epicenter Classic in Klamath Falls, Ore., and won the PBA Senior Chillicothe Open in Chillicothe, Ohio later in the season.

He cashed in six of nine events, and advanced to three championship rounds, tying for second on the Senior Tour.

“I’m happy that I won,” Glass said. “This year, I didn’t know who would win. There were five guys that could have won. It was a bizarre year for me. I won twice and couldn’t break a leg the last four stops. I’ve never gone that hot and cold before.”

The PBA Senior Tour’s 2005 season will begin April 16 with the PBA Senior Empire State Open in Latham, N.Y.
