Dorothy A. Dowding, Eudora

Mrs. Dowding died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 6, 1908, in Eudora, the daughter of Carl and Alice Steed. She graduated from De Soto High School in 1927.

Mrs. Dowding worked at the De Soto Post Office and at the courthouse in Lawrence. She was a member of Rebekah Minerva Lodge in Eudora for more than 50 years. She was also a member of Eudora United Methodist Church, Eudora Historical Society and De Soto Merrymakers Club.

She married Harold L. Mize in 1928. He died in 1951. She married Hugh Dowding in 1958. He died in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Modesitt, Fort Worth, Texas; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
