Orlando, Fla. ? Doug Christie is new to Orlando, while Hedo Turkoglu is just new to the Magic’s starting lineup. All this winning is new, too.

Turkoglu scored a season-high 29 points to support Steve Francis’ 32, and Christie hit a huge three-pointer before playing clutch defense on a key possession as the Magic snapped the Detroit Pistons’ six-game winning streak with a 103-101 victory Tuesday night.

Orlando now has matched its win total for all of last season — 21.

“We went toe-to-toe with the reigning world champion and we didn’t blink,” Orlando coach Johnny Davis said. “We brought it to them and we made plays down the stretch.”

They sure did. In a seven-minute span to close the fourth quarter, the Magic outscored the Pistons 20-6.

Christie, playing his first home game since being acquired in a trade from Sacramento a week ago, provided the run’s top two highlights, one on each end.

With the Pistons leading 96-95 and holding the ball, Francis stripped Chauncey Billups to start a break, then noticed Christie alone on the right wing.

“I’ve always said, if a man is open I’m going to hit him,” Francis said. He had six assists and tied a season best with 12 rebounds for his 10th double-double.

Christie’s shot hit swished through at the 1:26 mark, sending a roar through the arena. The Magic were 7-for-9 on three-pointers.

“I was a little nervous coming home to play the world champs, then not really knowing the plays was difficult,” said Christie, who had nine points and tied his season high with four steals.

Nuggets 116, Sonics, 110 OT

Seattle — Earl Boykins broke the NBA record for points in an overtime, scoring 15 of Denver’s 21 points in the extra period. Boykins, a 5-foot-5 guard who is the league’s smallest player, broke the record of 14 overtime points set by Butch Carter of Indiana against Boston on March 20, 1984. The Nuggets ended a two-game losing streak and snapped Seattle’s four-game home winning streak.

Sacramento, Calif. — Chris Webber scored eight of his 32 points in overtime and also had 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals in Sacramento’s fifth straight victory.

Mavericks 137, Wizards 120

Dallas — Jerry Stackhouse scored a season-high 29 points, and Dirk Nowitzki had 28 points to surpass 10,000 for his career as Dallas racked up the most points in the NBA this season. Jason Terry and Michael Finley each added 25 points for the Mavericks.

Pacers 87, Rockets 74

Houston — Jamaal Tinsley scored 28 points, including six during a key 10-0 run in the fourth quarter, and Jermaine O’Neal added 27 for Indiana.
