Dick Services, Lawrence

Services for Elverta Dick, 98, Lawrence, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Plainville Cemetery, Plainville.

Mrs. Dick died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born Oct. 26, 1906, in Potter, the daughter of C.K. and Lilly Davis Hawley. She attended McPherson College and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, and she was certified in public school music.

Mrs. Dick was a music teacher for several school districts in western Kansas. She was a member of several P.E.O. Sisterhood chapters in Kansas.

She married Paul R. Dick on Aug. 21, 1929. He died in March 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula M. Parker, Olathe; a son, James P., Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the services at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Lowman United Methodist Church in Topeka or Baker University Scholarship Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
