Three Jayhawks earn NCAA provisionals

? Kansas University freshman Ekaterina Sultanova broke the KU record and won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 13-71/4 in just her second collegiate meet Friday at the Arkansas Invitational.

The Jayhawks finished 1-2 in the event as senior Amy Linnen placed second with a 12-11 1/2 effort that also earned an NCAA provisional mark.

Senior Brooklyn Hann won the triple jump and tied her own KU record with an NCAA provisional effort of 42-3 1/4. Freshman Crystal Manning placed third.

Senior Kim Clark placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.86, while junior Charisse Bacchus finished second in the long jump with a jump of 19-63/4.

On the men’s side, junior Sheldon Battle won the weight throw with a toss of 61-001/4, edging senior teammate Colin Dutton, who finished second. Battle was third in the shot put.

KU scored two second-place finishes as junior Brett Terp was the runner-up in the high jump (6-6), and junior Cameron Schwehr placed second in the mile (4:06.32). Senior Jeremy Mims took third in the 800.
