Seabury swept at Barstow

? Seabury Academy’s boys basketball team suffered a disappointing 40-30 loss Friday night at Barstow.

Scott King scored nine points and Matt Parker eight for the Seahawks (1-7) in the setback.

“It was a frustrating game,” Seabury coach Marcus Heckman said. “We were disappointed. As a team, we felt we were more ready to play. We had a great week of practice, but we didn’t play our best at all.”

Seabury will face the host team Tuesday in the first round of the Elwood Invitational Tournament.

Barstow girls 58, Seabury 17

Behind 30 points from Howard University signee Morgan Neal, Kansas City (Mo.) Barstow defeated Seabury’s girls.

Seabury Academy had 23 turnovers.

“We just played a really good team,” Seabury coach Nick Taylor said. “My team … we gave it everything we got. There’s no stopping and no quitting.

“I was very pleased with the way they fought all through the game.”

The Seahawks (3-4) play next on Tuesday at the Elwood Invitational Tournament.
