Homer C. Lewis Sr., Lawrence

Services for Homer C. Lewis Sr., 84, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Lewis died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Mount Pleasant, Ark., the son of Osmer and Artie Weatherford Lewis.

Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Reuter Pipe Organ Co., Sunflower Ordnance, Fleetwood Mobile Homes and Farmland Industries before retiring in 1986.

He married Mildred Cox on July 2, 1948, in Searcy, Ark. She died June 14, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Homer C. “Sonny” Jr., Ottawa, and Donald, Linwood; a brother, Jay Lewis, Angwin, Calif.; a sister, Marie Fulbright, Apopka, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Seventh Day Adventist Church, sent in care of the mortuary.
