6News video: Art a la Carte

A collection of poems and stories by former Kansas University English professor Luci Tapahonso has been chosen as this year’s Read Across Lawrence book. The Lawrence Public Library has ordered 100 copies of “Blue Horses Rush In,” which are expected to arrive any day. Twenty copies will be available at the library for checkout, and 80 copies will be circulated throughout the community. The annual program encourages everyone in Lawrence to read and discuss the same book during the month of February.

And at the Lawrence Arts Center, Emporia-born photographer Leo Lutz will give a gallery talk in conjunction with his one-man exhibition, “The Exploring Eye.” The K-U graduate studied with masters associated with the F64 Group of California photographers. Like those purists, Lutz shoots normal perspectives in sharp focus rather than manipulating images to resemble other art media. He’ll discuss his work during the talk, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday. The exhibition remains on view through Feb. 11.
