Eagle Heights topples Veritas

? Veritas Christian Academy’s boys basketball team suffered its second setback Tuesday night, 80-67, after being outscored 49-37 in the second half against Eagle Heights.

The Eagles trailed just 31-30 at halftime, but slipped defensively after returning from the locker room.

“We played well offensively,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “It was just a lack of defensive effort on our part. It’s one of the things we’ve taken a lot of pride in this season, and we just didn’t play well defensively.”

The Eagles were led by Mark Randtke, who scored 24 points. Paul Kempf added 21, including five three-pointers.

Veritas will return home Friday to take on Flint Hills Christian Academy at Haskell.
