Lois Ruth Mathia

Mrs. Mathia died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 8, 1920, in Topeka, the daughter of Edward E. and Elva Pearl Newson Vogler. She was a lifelong Lawrence resident.

She worked at General Appliance in Lawrence for more than 30 years and retired in 1991. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary.

She married Delbert Eugene Mathia on Aug. 4, 1951, in Lawrence. He died May 5, 2001.

Survivors include a sister, Lenora Mae North, Utah, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the church or the American Legion Building Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
