Wilverene Greenfield

Graveside services for Wilverene Greenfield, 96, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Greenfield died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

She was born June 5, 1908, in Denison, the daughter of I.E. and Angeline Davis Foster. She moved to Valley Falls, where she grew up, and later moved to Lawrence.

Mrs. Greenfield was a teacher in Valley Falls and rural Washington Creek. She worked at Hercules Powder Co. during World War II. She was an office manager for Sam’s Produce and Mayflower Moving Co., and later worked at Montgomery Ward until she retired in 1973.

She was a member of First Christian Church and Rebecca Lodge No. 754, both in Lawrence.

She married Henry Merrill Stafford on Feb. 2, 1927. He died in 1972. She married Jack Edwards in 1975. He died earlier. She married Jasper Greenfield. He died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Stafford Oswald, Overland Park; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Presbyterian Manor, sent in care of the funeral home.
