Kanwaka Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of A.K. and Charlene Winter. Ruth Wyatt will give the lesson, “Tenderhearts: I am a Caregiver, What’s Next?”

India Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Bonnie Bond.

Co-hostess is Darlene Bright. Regina Shaver will give the lesson on asthma.

Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program “Basics of Stenciling” at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 21 in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

The program will be given by Rebecca Seitter, Overland Park. Seitter will share how she has used stenciling to enhance her home. She will demonstrate the basic techniques of stenciling and invite participants to try the techniques.

To register, call the Extension Office at 843-7058. The program is open to the public. A minimal fee will be charged.

The Lone Star 4-H Club met Dec. 3 at Lone Star Church. The meeting was called to order by Grant Metsker, president. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite reindeer. Becca Hinshaw and Michael Krumm led the club singing.

The leaders report was given by Mary Berg. She talked about enrollment cards, the upcoming year’s agenda, the August club meeting, County Club Days, the Shawnee County Lock-in, the concession stand committee and a day-manager position during the Douglas County Free Fair.

The club had a Christmas party. Members made cards for U.S. troops to be sent with supplies they collected. They wrapped gifts for their adopted family and took part in a cookie exchange.

The next meeting will be Monday at Lone Star Church.
