Robert Dale Norton

? Services for Robert Dale Norton, 76, Baldwin, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Baldwin. Burial will be in Osawatomie Cemetery.

Mr. Norton died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1928, in Cainsville, Mo., the son of Carl and Blanch Smothers Norton. He grew up in Spickard, Mo., and graduated in 1947 from Spickard High School. He had lived in Baldwin the last 10 years.

Mr. Norton was a corporal in the U.S. Marines, serving from 1950 to 1959. He qualified as a sharpshooter and received the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a locksmith and retired from Kansas University as the campus locksmith. He also had been a farmer.

He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

He married Colleen Davis in 1949. He later married Cheryl Wright, in 1977. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Cathy Strehlow, Overland Park; a son, Kenneth Norton, Topeka; two stepdaughters, Wendy Cherry, Baldwin, and Terrie Dalrymple, Overland Park; two stepsons, Randy Wright, Bonner Springs, and Roger Wright, Paola; and 16 grandchildren.

A son, Jack Norton, and a grandson died earlier.
