College Station, Texas ? Kansas University’s swimming and diving team was in third place of six team after Wednesday’s first day of the Big 12 Conference Championships.

KU had 64 points and trailed Texas (80) and Texas A&M (68).

The Jayhawks set school records in both events contested Wednesday. Amy Gruber, Lindsey Urbatchka, Hannah Bakke and Jenny Short were third in the 200 medley relay in 1:42.02.

In the 800 freestyle relay, Gruber, Jackie Krueger, Gina Gnatzig and Terri Schramka combined to finish third in 7:17.91.
