Closings announced for Presidents Day

Several government offices and public services in Lawrence and surrounding areas will be closed Monday in observance of Presidents Day.

Lawrence city offices will be closed, though Douglas County offices will be open. Offices in De Soto, Eudora, Franklin County and Leavenworth County will be closed as well.

Several banks will be closed, though U.S. Bank, 900 Mass., and Sunflower Bank, 4831 Quail Crest Place, will be open. Sunflower Bank will operate from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lawrence Bus Co. will run its normal routes. The T will operate its normal services as well.

Sanitation services in Lawrence will not be affected by the holiday.

Kansas University classes will be held as normally scheduled. Haskell Indian Nations University will be closed.

Many Parks and Recreation centers will have shorter hours on Monday. The Community Building, 115 W. 11th St., the East Lawrence Center, 1245 E. 15th St., and the Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The South Park Recreation Center will be closed.

The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center and the Carl Knox Natatorium will be open normal hours. Eagle Bend Gold Course will be accepting tee times.

The Lawrence Public Library will be open normal hours.

The post office will be closed, and regular mail will not be delivered, though express mail and UPS packages will be.

The business offices of the Journal-World will be open for regular hours.
