Kanwaka 4-H Club met Feb. 7 at Kanwaka Hall. The meeting was called to order by Amber Budenbender, president. Members answered roll call by naming who they wanted for a Valentine. The club sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Jason McCandless gave a treasurer’s report and county council report. Members are going to help the county council serve a meal in March at Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen.

Mary Wakeman reminded members about the County Food Fare on Feb. 18. The club recognized members who participated in County 4-H Days. The club received a top purple ribbon in the model meeting competition and will represent Douglas County at Regional 4-H Days on Feb. 26.

The club decided to have a team for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life June 10-11 at Free State High School.

Alex Price played his french horn. Shon Price gave a demonstration on the different types of drawer joints. For recreation, the club played “Down By The Banks.” Refreshments were served by the Price family.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 14 at Kanwaka Hall.
