Slight chance for sprinkles

Enjoy the sunshine this morning, because clouds, colder weather and possibly some precipitation are moving in to Lawrence today.

“We may see a few sprinkles this afternoon,” said Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist. But it will be nothing like last weekend, when Lawrence got about an inch of rain, Reith said.

At 8:30 a.m., the temperature was 44, with mostly clear skies and a northeast 12-mph wind making the wind chill 38 degrees.

Clouds will begin moving in this afternoon bringing the chance for sprinkles as the cold front comes in from the north, Reith said. The high will reach 50 today, with 8- to 12-mph winds from the north.

As the cold front moves in, the overnight low will drop to 31 by early Wednesday morning, Reith said.

“We look to only warm up to 40 tomorrow as the brunt of the oold air moves in,” Reith said. Skies will be partly cloudy Wednesday, he said.

The temperature will drop to a low of 23 by Thursday morning, with Thursday’s high reaching 42.
