City to consider turn lane for East 23rd Street

Lawrence City Commission Agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢ Sunflower Broadband Channel 25 ¢ Meeting documents online at www.lawrenceks.org

Bottom line

Note: This week’s agenda includes items originally scheduled for the meeting of Feb. 8, which was canceled because of a snowstorm.

City commissioners will consider a proposal to add a westbound turn lane on East 23rd Street to more easily allow cars to turn onto O’Connell Road.

Background

City officials believe that a westbound turn lane would greatly improve safety at the intersection of 23rd Street and O’Connell Road as construction begins on land near the intersection. City officials are proposing that developers and future tenants of the O’Connell property pay for the turn lane.
