KU to recognize women in sports

National Girls and Women in Sports Day will be recognized during Kansas University’s Sunday afternoon basketball game against Colorado.

KU will recognize more than 50 former letter winners in addition to current Jayhawks on nine of Kansas’ 11 women’s teams. The softball and tennis teams will be out of town.

Following the 1 p.m. game in Allen Fieldhouse, an autograph session for all current KU female student-athletes will be set up in the south concourse.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of sports and fitness participation for all women.
