Benefit auction

Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, Building 21

Feb. 12: “Hearts for Eliza” benefit auction to help the Fortner family, of Lawrence, cover the medical expenses of Eliza Mae Fortner, 1, who died of brain cancer, and to support the Ronald McDonald Charities, 2 p.m.; doors open and concessions begin at noon.

Event organizers seeking donations from individuals and businesses, items such as: gift certificates, merchandise, antiques, sporting event tickets, furniture, home decor, homemade crafts, gift baskets or appliances.

Feb. 12: ICAN’s eighth annual pie sale and quilt set, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Plymouth; more than 60 quilts on display, plus participants can enjoy homemade pie or soup (pie sold by the slice and the pan); free quilt lecture by Amy Bradley, of Lawrence, at 11 a.m.; all proceeds support ICAN Friendly Visitors, a local, nonprofit volunteer program that provides informal support services for the elderly so they may remain independent.
