Marine Corps Pfc. Ruben Cajandab Jr., a 2004 Lawrence High School graduate, recently completed the administrative clerk course at Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools in Camp Lejeune, N.C. During the eight-week course, Cajandab learned basic skills and knowledge in personnel management and administration procedures.

Army Pvt. Ying Zhang has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. During the nine-week training period, the Zhang received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values. He is the son of Jun Zhang, Lawrence.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Marc A. Garrett, a 1989 graduate of Lawrence High School, recently received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal while serving as aviation equipment custodian assigned to USS Higgins, homeported at San Diego. Garrett expertly ensured the flawless inventory and maintenance of portable aviation equipment and personal protective gear. Garrett’s efforts guaranteed the safety of the ship’s personnel and the efficiency of all aviation operations.
