Carlene Cheryll Howell Pattie, Lawrence

Services for Carlene Cheryll Howell Pattie, 73, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Williamsburg.

Mrs. Pattie died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at her home.

She was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Topeka, the daughter of Carl and Ann Barrett Howell. She graduated from Topeka High School and was a cum laude graduate of Fort Hays State University. She also earned a diploma from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan., and an associate’s degree from Barton County Community College in Great Bend. She studied music at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music.

Mrs. Pattie was a licensed nursing home administrator and served nursing homes in western and central Kansas. She played the cello in the Topeka High Symphony and Fort Hays Symphony. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as director of the Children’s Resource Center.

She married Robert T. Pattie on Aug. 12, 1951, in Topeka. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Joshua T. Pattie and Joel C. Pattie, both of Topeka; two daughters, Julie Ann Mead, Lewis, and Janelle Tone Hood, Topeka; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church before the service.

The family suggests memorials to the church, Hospice Care of Douglas County or First Baptist Church of Topeka, sent in care of the funeral home.
