School finance countdown

70 days: The state Supreme Court has given lawmakers until April 12 to produce a constitutional school finance plan.

Tuesday’s highlights

Kansas House voted 89-28 to advance to final action a proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and civil unions. Another two-thirds majority vote on the measure will place the issue before Kansas voters on April 5.

Today’s schedule

11 a.m.: House convenes and is scheduled to take up SCR 1601, the proposed amendment banning same-sex marriage.

1 p.m.: News conference by a coalition wanting to build a casino in Wyandotte County.
