KU professor to sing at Lithuanian celebration

John Staniunas, associate professor of theater and artistic director of University Theatre at Kansas University, will sing three selections with a 30-piece orchestra Feb. 15 in Lithuania at a concert to celebrate the fifth birthday of Ziniu Radijas, Lithuania’s first “independence” radio station.

Staniunas is a visiting Fulbright scholar and artist at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and the Opera Theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The concert will be led by Donatas Katkus, artistic director and conductor of St. Christopher Orchestra.

Spirit, inspiration theme for art show

Unity Art Gallery, 900 Madeline Lane, is looking for artists to exhibit in its group show, “Spirit and Inspiration.” The mixed media show, featuring interpretations of inspirational and spiritual themes, will run March 12-April 30.

The deadline to enter is Feb. 19.

Artists should submit title of work, medium and the work’s dimensions.
