Hemenway invited to leadership summit

Kansas University Chancellor Robert Hemenway is among a group of higher education leaders invited to attend the U.S. State Department’s University Presidents Summit next month. The summit’s goal is to help develop a plan for encouraging more U.S. students to study abroad and more foreign students to enroll in U.S. universities.

The summit, hosted by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Education Secretary Margaret Spellings, is set for Jan. 5-6 in Washington, D.C.

KU was one of five American universities to receive the 2005 Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization from NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
