The Kansas Board of Regents approved Chancellor Clarke Wescoe’s request for a 6,500-seat addition on the east side of Kansas University’s Memorial Stadium. There was a chance the work could be completed by the coming fall, boosting the capacity of the arena to 51,500. The addition would make Memorial Stadium the fourth largest football arena in the Big Eight Conference with only Oklahoma, Nebraska and Missouri running ahead.
