Veritas girls fall, boys win

Seabury squads sweep KSD

? Kristie Tiegreen had 15 points and seven rebounds, but Veritas Christian suffered its first girls basketball loss of the season, 35-32, to Olathe Berean Academy on Thursday in the Shea Tournament.

Veritas (1-1) overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to take a one-point lead with two minutes remaining.

“We had our chances at the end,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “But it was great effort on the part of the girls. I was proud of the girls for how hard they fought back in the second half.”

Taelyr Shelton and Marteka Carlton each scored seven points, and Susan Wilson had eight rebounds for Veritas.

Veritas will meet Topeka Cornerstone at noon today.
