Baker faculty to perform at recital

“The Christmas Story,” a Baker University faculty recital featuring soprano Susan Buehler, assistant professor of music, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at First United Methodist Church, Eighth and Grove streets, in Baldwin. Admission is free.

The faculty will sing “An Old Carol” by Roger Quilter, “Cradle Song” by William Byrd, “Sweet Little Boy Jesus” by J.J. Niles, “The First Mercy” by Peter Warlock, “In the Bleak Mid-Winter” by Laura Schwantz and “Never A Brighter Star” by Dan Forrest.

The Rev. Ira DeSpain, campus minister, and Robert Miller, sociology professor, will deliver Scripture readings at the recital.

Buehler will be accompanied on the piano by Trilla Lyerla, associate music professor. She will be assisted by James Stephens, adjunct music instructor, on guitar and John Forbes, curator of the Quayle Bible Collection, on soprano recorder.
