Three injured in K-10 accident

A Douglas County woman and an Overland Park couple were all injured in a two-vehicle accident late this morning on Kansas Highway 10 on the eastern border of Lawrence near the East Hills Business Park.

The driver of the truck, Deanna Shawbaker, 39, rural Douglas County, and a passenger in the car, Tae Kwon, 55, Overland Park, both were transported by helicopter ambulance to University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

Emergency personnel work the scene of an accident late this morning on Kansas Highway 10 at the entrance to the East Hills Business Park on Lawrence's eastern edge. Two of the three people were who were injured in the two-vehicle accident were flown by helicopter ambulance to an area hospital.

The extent of their inuries wasn’t known late this afternoon. The driver of the car, Jung Kwon, 50, Overland Park, was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

The accident occurred about 10:52 a.m. in the westbound lanes at the entrance to the business park, which is just east of Lawrence.

The flatbed truck Shawbaker was driving belonged to LRM Industries, which has a ready mix concrete plant nearby.
