Firebirds win again

? Free State High’s baseball team stretched its winning streak to nine Thursday, courtesy of a 13-4 victory over Shawnee Mission West at Broodmoor Park.

Max Ellenbecker and Travis Blankenship combined for the victory, Ellenbecker improving to 4-1 after striking out three in five innings.

Brett Lisher was 3-for-4 with two triples and two RBIs. Robby Price had three stolen bases and two RBIs off two hits. Jake Hoover and Scott Heitshusen blasted homers for FSHS.

“We hit well one through nine and had consistency throughout the lineup,” coach Mike Hill said. “When you can jump to a 3-0 lead like we did it settles everybody down and lets everybody get in a groove.”
