Free State pitchers shut down O-South

? Travis Blankenship and Jake Hoover combined on a three-hit shutout to lead Free State to an 8-0 high school baseball victory Thursday over Olathe South.

“You’re always pleased when you can go on road and win in the Sunflower League,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “It was our third shutout in a row. I thought Travis did a fantastic job, then Jake came in and shut the door.”

Blankenship (2-1) allowed two hits in four innings, and Hoover yielded one hit in three innings.

The Firebirds pounded 14 hits, including three each by Robby Price and Lorenzo Ricketts. Anthony Dreiling, Andy Petz and Hoover each had two hits.

FSHS (7-2) will travel Tuesday to Shawnee Mission South.
