Clear skies expected this evening

Lawrence has had overcast skies today, keeping the temperature down in the 50s. But the clouds will finally push off to the east by this evening, says Tim Reith, 6News meteorologist.

“Our clouds will be exiting, but we will see very breezy conditions from the north. That will make it feel a little bit cooler than it actually is,” Reith said.

At 5 p.m. today, the temperature had climbed to 57, with an 8 to 15 mph northerly wind.

Overnight, the winds will die down and skies will clear, Reith said. The temperature will drop to a low of 41 by early Friday morning, with a chance for patchy fog, he said.

“Be careful, especially tomorrow mornng,” he said.

Friday’s forecast calls for sunny and mile temperatures, as the winds switch around to come from the south, helping bring in milder temperatures Friday and through the weekend, he said.

Friday’s high will be 71 degrees, with southeast winds 5 to 10 mph, he said.

Saturday’s morning low will be 44, with the high climbing to 75 by Saturday afternoon with partly cloudy skies, he said.
