LHS splits
Leavenworth ? After dropping the first game of a baseball doubleheader, 6-4, Thursday at Leavenworth, Lawrence High’s baseball squad crushed the Pioneers, 13-0, in a five-inning, run-rule affair in the nightcap to earn its first victory of the season.
Daren Parker (0-1) was the hard-luck loser in the first game, fanning five in four innings. Matt Wingert also had five Ks in the second game, limiting Leavenworth to just two hits in a complete-game effort.
“They (the Lions) were challenged in between games to come out and leave no doubt, and we did that,” first-year LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “Obviously, Wingert was lights out.”
