? Lindsay Whalen matched her career-high with 21 points, and Connecticut beat Washington, 80-70, Monday night to even the best-of-three WNBA Eastern Conference semifinal. Game 3 is Wednesday.

Nykesha Sales added 13 points for the Sun and set a WNBA playoff record with a career-best seven steals. Connecticut scored 21 points on 17 Washington turnovers.

Seattle — Lauren Jackson scored 18 points, and Seattle advanced to the Western Conference finals with the two-game sweep. The Storm lost starting point guard and U.S. Olympian Sue Bird to a broken nose early in the first half. She was hit setting a screen on Minnesota’s Teresa Edwards.
