Lawrence Police on Monday issued the following report of police activity from the weekend:

Accidents

  • A Topeka woman told police she passed out Monday morning at the wheel on the Kansas Turnpike, causing her two-door Toyota to leave the road and hit a tree.

The wreck happened at 6:39 a.m. east of Lecompton. The driver, 32-year-old Gretchen J. Hellebust, suffered chest, head and ankle injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

A dispatcher said police did not think drugs or alcohol were a factor.

  • A Topeka man was injured about 5:50 p.m. Saturday near Clinton when he lost control of his motorcycle, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Anthony Spomer, 35, was driving a 1995 Kawasaki around a curve on North 851 Diagonal near East 850 Road when the accident occurred, the report said. Spomer was taken by air ambulance helicopter to University of Kansas Medical Center. His condition was not available Monday.
