MU linebacker Richard suspended after arrest

? Missouri starting linebacker David Richard was suspended Monday from the Big 12 Conference football game against Colorado on Saturday after an arrest for alleged marijuana possession.

Richard, 21, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 11, Columbia Police Capt. Marvin McCrary confirmed Monday. Police, dispatched to a report of a party in an off-campus neighborhood, heard loud music coming from a parked car, a 1999 Dodge Intrepid registered to Richard.

Officers found Richard and another man in the vehicle, along with a suspected marijuana cigarette and a small bag of suspected marijuana, according to the police report.

Both men were arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

At a Monday afternoon news conference, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said Richard would not play Saturday when the Tigers (2-1) open Big 12 play at home against Colorado (3-0), saying that Richard “has been suspended from this game for disciplinary reasons.” He made no additional comment.
