Cottrell Services

Services for Elmer “Junior” Cottrell, 71, Perry, will be at 2 p.m. today at Williamstown Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Buster Cemetery, northeast of Perry.

Mr. Cottrell died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born March 15, 1933, in Williamstown, the son of Elmer Wilburn and Louella Bracken Cottrell. He graduated from Perry Rural High School in 1951 and was a lifelong resident of the Perry area.

Mr. Cottrell worked for the Goodyear Tire Co. in Topeka from 1958 until he retired in 1993.

He was a member of Williamstown Assembly of God Church and a charter member of the Perry Spillway Fishing Club.

He married Mae Ardell Patterson on Aug. 18, 1956, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Chris, Lawrence; four daughters, Terry McPherson, Topeka, and Cindy McDaris, Melinda Hayes and Stacy Cecil, all of Perry; a brother, Donald, Perry; two sisters, Edith Newell, Oskaloosa, and Evelyn Brannock, Perry; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

An infant daughter, Pamela Faith Cottrell, died in 1959.
