Law enforcement report
Lawrence Police said Wednesday morning that in the past 24 hours they had handled:
- 274 calls
- 26 reports
- two thefts
- one burglary
- 10 noninjury accidents
- A transient repeatedly threw a brick at a Ford Explorer early Wednesday in downtown Lawrence, causing $2,000 in damage, according to police reports.
A 30-year-old man told police he was driving west in the 100 block of West 10th Street when the suspect ran at the vehicle and threw a brick at it. The suspect then picked up the brick and threw it three more times, according to a report.
Police arrested the suspect, a 38-year-old man, on suspicion of criminal damage and obstruction.
Burglaries and thefts reported
- A 55-year-old Douglas County woman told police an acquaintance took $64,275 in property, including a $25,000 antique watch, an assortment of rings and a $3,500 golf cart from her home in the 1700 section of East 1000 Road.
The items were taken between Sept. 1 and Monday, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s report.
- A 47-year-old woman reported her 1999 Ford Expedition worth $19,000 taken between midnight and 6:45 a.m. Tuesday from her home in the 3700 block of Brush Creek Drive.
