Myrtle Ellen Allen

Mrs. Allen died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Cherry Creek Nursing Home in Wichita.

She was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Batesville, Ark., the daughter of Charles A. and Pernettie J. Hunter Mason. She lived in Lawrence for 30 years.

Mrs. Allen worked in a nursing home in Lawrence and was a member of Eudora Assembly of God Church.

She married Brice Allen Sr. on Jan. 18, 1972, in Eudora. He died Feb. 27, 1998.

A son died earlier.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Henry, Wichita; five brothers, Lewis Mason, Sulphur Rock, Ark., Paul Mason, Batesville, Charles Mason, Eudora, David Mason, Little Rock, Ark., and Joseph Mason, Emporia; four sisters, Sylvia E. Melton and Charlene Mason, both of Memphis, Tenn., Alice Bryant, Eudora, and Josephine Hawkins, Newark, Ark.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
