June S. Henry

Mrs. Henry died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Payne County, Okla., the daughter of Jacob and Maude Alice Johnson Shellhammer. She majored in music at Oklahoma A&M University. She moved to Lawrence from Oklahoma in 1938.

Mrs. Henry taught in the Follow Through Program at Woodlawn School. She also was an income-tax preparer, a precinct judge for many years and a Republican Precinct Committeewoman.

She married L. Lew Henry in 1937. He died Oct. 18, 1973.

Survivors include four daughters, Marsha H. Goff and Vicki L. Julian, both of Lawrence, Lesta R. Kline, Lompoc, Calif., and Bette J. Hulser, Topeka; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and until noon of Saturday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Crosspointe Ministries of Lawrence, sent in care of the mortuary.
