Chicago ? Derrek Lee was on the other side 11 months ago, leading the Florida Marlins to victory in the NL championship series en route to a surprising World Series title.

Now his job is to keep the Marlins from getting back to the playoffs and to help the Chicago Cubs return.

“I got a lot of friends over there. But you got to put it aside and go out there and win games,” Lee said Saturday after his three-run double in the eighth sent the Cubs to a 5-2 victory.

The Cubs, who began the day one percentage point ahead of Houston and San Francisco, dropped the Marlins 21/2 games back.

“I can’t say it does mean more to beat your former team because I didn’t like leave on a bitter note,” said Lee, traded to the Cubs in the offseason. “These are big games, so it feels good to win. They mean a lot.”

Phoenix — Barry Bonds broke his major-league record for walks in a season, and rookie Noah Lowry allowed four hits in seven-plus innings. Bonds walked three times, once intentionally, to run his season total to 201, surpassing the record of 198 he set two seasons ago.

Atlanta — Andruw Jones and Rafael Furcal each homered, and pinch-hitter Julio Franco capped a six-run seventh inning with a two-RBI double.

Cincinnati — Adam Dunn hit a grand slam in a seven-run third inning, leading Cincinnati over Milwaukee. Dunn and Austin Kearns hit consecutive homers in the third.

Pirates 5, Astros 2

Pittsburgh — Jason Bay homered and drive in four runs, and Ryan Vogelsong limited Houston to one run over six innings in Pittsburgh’s win over Houston, the Astros’ third loss in four games following a 12-game winning streak.

Rockies 13, Padres 2

Denver — Matt Holliday and Clint Barmes had three RBIs each, Jeff Francis was a winner in his Coors Field debut, and Colorado had 18 hits in a win over San Diego. Garrett Atkins hit his first career homer, a two-run shot in the seventh inning, Barmes was 3-for-5, and every position player had a hit for Colorado.

Phillies 11, Mets 9 13 innings

New York — David Bell’s second home run of the game broke a 13th-inning tie, and Philadelphia overcame a four-run deficit to defeat New York.
