The Lawrence Mentors Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 1. Five tables of participants competed in a stratified game following a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing the North-South cards, Eldon Herd and Mary Beth Treece earned first place in A. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley placed second in A and first in B.

Sitting East-West, Mary Joyce and Gary Joyce placed first in A. Donna Munson and Pat Lombardi took second in A. Bobbie McCorkle and Dick Moore placed first in A.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Sept. 6. Ten tables of competitors participated in a stratified game following a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the play.

Playing North-South, Terry Tolar and Harry Shaffer placed first in A. Pet Petillo and Bob Hemenway placed second. Dave Rhea and Liz Rhea took third. Pat Lombardi and Donna Munson placed fourth in A and first in B. Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee took second in B and first in C.

Sitting East-West, Julia Brooks and Virginia Seaver finished first in A. Jeff Nash and Lois Jones placed second. Eldon Herd and Jerry Sloan took third. Cecil Collier and Christie Collier placed fourth. Mary Beth Treece and Florene Dreek took first in B and C. Mona Bell and Carol Ball were second in B and C.

Playing the North-South cards, Don Daugherty and Harry Talley swept first place in A, B and C. Lynn Hui and Harry Shaffer finished second. Phyllis Brownlee and Julia Brooks placed in a tie for third with Lester Dalton and Patt Radford. Shirley Reese and Betty Collier took second in B. Don Brennaman and Grant Sutton were second in C.

Sitting East-West, Yvonne Hedges and Chuck Hedges took first in A and B. Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel were second in A and B and first in C. Lois Clark and Mike Blumenfeld finished third in B, second in C and tied for third in A with Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman.

University Bridge Club announces its winners of its Sept. 4 game. Hosts were Bud and Betty Lukens with Marian Lang and Lois Liebert.

Blue winners were Bette Lukens, Marian Lang, Lois Liebert, three-way tie for first; Marian Davis, second; George Bocquin, third; Roy Cropp, fourth; Hank Miller, fifth.

Pink winners: Dottie Miller, first; Mary Kanous, second; Ailene Bocquin, third; Wanda Kring, fourth; Jean Etherton, fifth.

The Lawrence area Mortar Board Alumni Club will be host to the KU Mortar Board chapter at its annual fall potluck supper Sept. 19, at the home of Mary Loveland. New alumni in the area are welcome and encouraged to call Mary A. Gordon, secretary, or Evelyn Senecal, president, for details.

The Lawrence Flower Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Mass. Ann Peuser, of Clinton Parkway Nursery and Garden Store, will give a program on “New and Exciting Trees.” Mary Leonard, a club member, will present the short program “Phlox in the Butterfly Garden.”

The GFWC Lawrence Classics will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at McDaniel & McDaniel office, Suite B. The program is “Heart Truth for Women.”
