Edward Henry Wickham

Mr. Wickham died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at the V.A. Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born May 4, 1931, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Harry and Mildred Roser Wickham. He lived for many years in Marion, moving to Olathe in 1980. He moved to Rantoul in 1991, and to Ottawa in 2002.

Mr. Wickham served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He worked for the Burlington Railroad from the early 1960s to the late 1970s as a lineman. He worked for the Olathe school district as a custodian until he retired in 1992.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 153 and Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Olathe.

He married Susan Griffith on July 24, 1973, in Marion, Iowa. She survives, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Other survivors include three daughters, Carrie Wickham, Lawrence, Charlene Wickham, Colorado, and Connie McCoy, Ottawa; two sons, Andy and Kevin, both of Colorado; two brothers, Gene, Dubuque, Iowa, and Roger, Marion, Iowa; two sisters, Janet Rea Powers, Marion, Iowa, and Carol Kuddes, Center Point, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Dengel and Son Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to Edward Henry Wickham Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
