Lawrence Police have begun providing a daily report of police activity in the city. They said Friday morning that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:

  • 286 calls
  • 41 reports
  • five thefts
  • three criminal damages

Injury accidents

A Linwood couple was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Thursday after a motorcycle accident on Leavenworth County Road 2440. Don and Teresa Pauley, 54 and 47, respectively, were riding on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 7:14 p.m. when they encountered a Lincoln Towncar backing out of a private driveway. Robert Bernard, the driver of the car, failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle, and Don Pauley laid the motorcycle down to avoid a collision. The Pauleys have been released from the hospital.
