Law enforcement report
Lawrence Police have begun providing a daily report of police activity in the city. They said Thursday morning that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:
- 350 calls
- 40 reports
- Four burglaries
- Four thefts
A tally of auto accidents wasn’t available Thursday.
Burglaries and thefts reported
- Someone pried the door handle of a car in the 2700 block of Grand Circle and took $1,250 in property, including compact discs and a CD player, police said. It happened between 9 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.
- A 21-year-old Kansas University student reported a $1,700 Toshiba laptop computer taken Aug. 30 from a home in the 900 block of Missouri Street.

- Carbon monoxide incident, 10:29 p.m., Wednesday, 1011 Ind.
- Authorized controlled burning, 9:50 a.m., Wednesday, 734 W. Fifth St.
- Gas leak (natural gas or LPG), 9:37 a.m., Wednesday, 3208 Rainier Drive.
- Construction or demolition landfill fire, 8:28 p.m., Wednesday, 5200 Clinton Parkway.
