Top running backs to clash as Wildcats travel to Benedictine

? Two of the Heart of America Athletic Conference’s top football running backs will collide today when Benedictine College tangles with Baker University. Benedictine’s John Willits leads the HAAC in rushing, averaging 141.6 yards a game. Baker’s John Reeves ranks third with a 118.1 yards-per-game average.

Kickoff will be at 2 p.m. at Raven Stadium. It’s BC’s homecoming.

Benedictine (3-5) is coming off a 27-0 victory over Avila, the league’s lowest-scoring team. Baker (4-3) was thumped 35-21 by unbeaten, nationally-ranked Lindenwood on Saturday.

Baker quarterback Brian Sheppard completed 20 of 41 passes for 209 yards against the league-leading Lions but also threw five interceptions. Sheppard has had a league-high 18 passes stolen this season.

Baker’s last home game will be Nov. 6 against Graceland. The Wildcats will conclude the season Nov. 13 at William Jewell.
